2010 CROSSROAD VBS CORRECTION EDIT

We must apologize to Gail Shook and Fay Patrick!  (The two "Smart-Alec" Sheep... (next to the wolf)
  Our face is RED!  :(

In the section that talks about "PARABLE OF THE LOST SHEEP", we list them as Mother and Daughter.   WRONG!  They are "SISTERS"!

We knew that,...but Wanda's computer didn't...we didn't catch it until after the post.  By then, it was too late to go back and change.  We are so sorry Gail & Fay!!!  We'll try to do better NEXT TIME!!!

2010 LABOR DAY IN PA

Wow!  Where has the summer gone?...Can't believe we have been in Bangor almost nine months!!!

Now 2010 Labor Day has come and gone. We spent the day visiting with friends that we knew when we were at Honesdale Baptist Church, Sharon and Charlie Kittner.  We spent 2009 Labor Day at a Picnic at their home with some of  their other friends and we were invited to do so again this year.  It was good to renew acquaintances again.  It was a beautiful Fall Day and Sharon's Picnic Theme was "Smiley Face"...which perfectly fits Sharon's personna of "POLLYANNA".  Thanks, Sharon & Charlie, for another wonderful "Day of Memories".  It's always good to be with Friends.

And from Sharon's Collage...sent to her grandchildren...
as you can see, we both had our "CAMERA WARS!"

2010 VBS AT CROSSROAD BAPTIST CHURCH

Summertime!...always means one thing at any church...and Crossroad Baptist Church in Bangor, PA is no different!   That's right...VBS!

This year we experienced VBS in a little different manner...it was held on four consecutive Tuesday nights, July-August,  just before shcool started.  The theme was Gospel Light's   "Sonquest Rainforest" and we had a blast with the neighborhood kids that came!  So we thought we would share some of  that fun with our friends and family...some of you may have seen some of the pics before...but we are going to try to give you a picture of  the whole week.
First of all...it takes a lot of preparation and hard work to get ready for such such an event...Deanna Shook and her friend, Carlie Sandt,  are college art students who brought our "Rainforest" Theme to life.  Beautiful!  Thank You Young Ladies!

Many others helped to put our Rainforest together also...
Amazing the transformation of  the Fellowship Room
and Sunday School rooms as well!

There  were snacks the first night, but unfortunately, my camera ran out of energy by then...maybe it needed a snack too!  But it was too late, so I did not get good pictures of  "Snack Time" on the first VBS night.

There was lots of fun that happened over the next few weeks.  The following is a sampling:
In case you didn't guess, I was the Bible Story Teller
This evolved after I did "Hagar" for the Mother's Day Worship Service

Week 2:  PARABLE OF THE LOST SHEEP
The Shepherd ( "Pastor Mitch") lost one of his 100 sheep
He's determined to find it & return it safely home to the other 99 sheep
But it wasn't easy!  He had some Smart-Alec Sheep
(Gail Shook and her mother, Fay Patrick)
who thought their Shepherd should stay home and forget about the
 "Mischievious, Wandering Lamb" (Vicki Keiper)
and a Hungry Wolf (Phil Smith) that wanted "lamb chops" for supper!
But the Shepherd persevered and  snatched his lost lamb from the dangerous wolf.
And the Shepherd "rejoiced with everyone that his "lost sheep" was found!"

It took a Samaritan (Dave Carhart)
To help the injured  Jewish Man!
(Jews and Samaritans were bitter enemies!)
Jesus said "Love thy neighbor as thyself."

The first night of VBS, "Pastor Mitch" challenged the kids,
that if they reached their Mission Offering Goal of $100,
he would submit to getting his hair dyed any color they chose.
"Did we meet our goal?" That was the question asked of us all night until the Closing Assembly Time.
So... See for yourself!

MISSION OFFERING GOAL:  $120
YES!  WE DID IT!!!....TOTAL OFFERING:  $141.00
And "A Promise Is a Promise!
First blue...

Then orange!
Yep! "He did it!"  Looks pretty "spiffy", don't you think?

And, oh yes!...Some "friends" suggested that the "Pastor's Wife" should get a color change as well...
And then EVERYONE got to get in on the fun!

And so concludes 2010 VBS at Cross Road Baptist Church for 2010.  We thank everyone who was involved in any way to help make this year's VBS the success that it was.  It is our prayer that many young hearts were touched by Jesus and will want to follow Him for the rest of  their lives.
